Elissa works with U.S.- and Europe-based companies in the information and communications technology, consumer products, and food, beverage, and agriculture sectors on a variety of topics, including business and human rights, women’s empowerment, sustainable supply chain management, and sustainability reporting. She helps facilitate BSR's Human Rights Working Group by leading research on various topics relevant to companies’ implementation of the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights. Elissa also supports BSR's HERproject by overseeing program implementation in Egypt, India, and Pakistan; supporting program expansion in Bangladesh; and managing the HERproject Toolbuilder, a web-based application to help educate female factory workers on general and reproductive health. Elissa also played an integral role in the development of a global standardized curriculum for both HERproject and HERfinance, BSR’s financial capacity-building program. Elissa served as BSR's Communications Associate for four years, where she provided strategic marketing communications support and produced and provided direction for BSR's member publications.
Before joining BSR, Elissa worked as the Communications Intern for GlobalGiving, a Washington, D.C.-based international development nonprofit.
Elissa holds a B.A. in Political Economies of Industrial Societies from the University of California, Berkeley.
